Data & sources
Every corridor on the map names where it came from. Here is the current source list for the beta.
Rights of way
Definitive-map style records from the relevant surveying authorities, normalised into confirmed, permissive, claimed and not-confirmed evidence. Ordinary public footpaths — where cycling is not a confirmed right — are structurally excluded from ride building.
Physical corridors
OpenStreetMap geometry and Ordnance Survey OpenMap Local / Open Roads supply the physical network: tracks, lanes, paths, towpaths and roads, with surface and access tags where mappers recorded them.
Traffic
Department for Transport traffic counts where published; clearly-labelled inference elsewhere. Traffic evidence never doubles as an access grant.
Basemap
Ordnance Survey Open Zoomstack with OS attribution, served as self-hosted tiles.
Place search
Towns, villages, roads and other named places come from OS Open Names. Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right 2026, available under the Open Government Licence. Additional named peaks and monuments come from © OpenStreetMap contributors, under ODbL. The OpenStreetMap place database is available separately as a downloadable lookup. Search results locate a place; they do not confirm cycling access.
What is left out
Anything licence-restricted, ambiguous classifications that cannot be resolved, and — for now — places where the current release has no recorded coverage. The regional release has partial physical coverage; an outlined area is not a promise that every path is mapped.
